Dana Farr, Owner of Delaware Express Garage Door, has been many things to many people. A vehicle mechanic in the Army. A successful restaurateur. In 2001, he was thrilled to be a stay-at-home dad taking care of his daughter.
"Our paths were significantly changed after September 11th," Dana remembers. "My wife worked in the airline industry, but her job was never the same after that day."
Faced with a reduction in both salary and benefits, Dana decided that going to work full-time was the best way to help his family. He told his friend he needed that job, and set out on the career path that brings you together today.
The friend taught Dana everything there is to know about the garage door business, and Dana took to it instantly. From humble beginnings, Delaware Express has crafted a vital place in the community. It's a story that he is not shy about sharing.
"I tell everybody - I started this business with one man, one truck, a hundred dollars in my pocket and I went to work. That's a big part of how I did this. I just want to work. Now we're what, seven years in, and I've paid her tuition," Dana ads fondly, "a lot of tuition! This work has been a tremendous blessing."
